It's been a while since I updated my last reads post so here are a few books that I have been able to get through during what has been one of my busiest seasons thus far. I've been lucky to pick up some great ones the past couple months!

The Help by Kathryn Stockett: (****) Great book. I loved the story line and also loved the characters (I really enjoy a good southern accent haha!). I know quite a bit about the history of slavery but everytime I read more about it, I am shocked by the things that happened in the past...not even that long ago really.
The book is about a few African American maids and is set in Jackson Mississippi in the 1960's. We get a glimpse into a few of the characters lives and their struggles as they try to live a normal life during a time of slavery and racism.

Left Neglected by Lisa Genova: (****) This story was extremely touching. I loved Genova's 'Still Alice' last year so when I saw that she wrote another novel, I quickly jumped on it and it didn't disappoint!
Left Neglected is about a well to do, everyday kind of woman who's life is changed in a blink of an eye. After a brain injury, she is left to perceive life as a whole and pay attention to what really matters most in her life.

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Ruben : (****) This was a very different read for me! Lately I have really been thinking about trying to change some aspects of my life for the better and when I heard that this book might help me with how to do just that, I picked it up and started reading it right away! It definitely did JUST THAT and I will be working on my own 'happiness project' as of January.
I am extremely excited about this project and I know that at times, there may be some difficult challenges so I've decided to share it all with you on this blog!
More about that in a few weeks :)
