The other day, I took a small road trip to clear my mind. I actually do this quite often. Driving until I get lost and taking in the beautiful scenery is probably one of my very favorite pass times. Everytime I do this, I bring a Polaroid camera. It's not the gratifying feeling of getting my pictures instantaneously that is the reason why I use it (ok, maybe just a little) but it's mainly the way it helps me document things that inspire me.
Lately, I've been making a point of appreciating the small things that sometimes matter most. Whether it be the smell of a summer breeze, the sound of a campfire crackling or even just a memory that sprung to your mind that makes you laugh at that moment in time. Alot of these things cannot be captured on film but some can which is why I love photography as much as I do. I think cameras help you freeze that one specific moment in time and let's you hold on to it forever. You can look back on those moments and re-live the feeling you had when that image was taken...

I've decided that I will be sharing some of my polaroid pictures on a monthly basis on my blog. I have been mainly using an SX-70 and a 600 for those who want to know and I get all of my film from The Impossible Project. Since Polaroid had withdrawn from making anymore instant film in 2008, The Impossible Project decided to keep producing and inventing instant film material for people like me who still cherish these dated cameras.

Many of these photos won't be perfect (technically and aesthetically), and I think that's what I like most about them. The thing with polaroids is you get one chance and you basically have to accept its outcome. I think that should go for anything really...especially those simple moments that come and go.
